ThermOil Testimonials Marine & Houseboat Industry

In today’s world where there are so many products sold with claims of increased reliability and performance it is sometimes hard to find one that actually does. With this said, I am very pleased to say ThermOil not only meets, but exceeds my expectations. It does so by allowing me to spend the extra time previously spent maintaining my batteries on other important items.

As a Professional Guide and Tournament Bass Fisherman my batteries are my lifeline. Without reliable fully functioning battery power I am dead in the water! Whether it’s ripping across the lake at 75 mph or busting 8 foot waves on the way to my fishing hole, my equipment is put to the extremes. When you spend more than 200 days a year on the water you can find yourself in conditions that can be life threatening.

Quality, safety and reliability are demanded from any product I use. These requirements are vital keys to my personal success and equally important to my clients.

Since I have started using ThermOil in my Trojan Batteries I have been quite surprised at how quickly the batteries recharge. Even after repeated intense cycling during a days fishing, they still seem hold a charge longer. Additionally, because you do not have to add water almost constantly like you would have to without ThermOil, there is a lack of corrosion on the posts, surrounding wiring and other surrounding equipment. In the past this type of excessive corrosion due to battery acid mist had caused wires to short out leaving me dead in the water. With ThermOil, I do not need to worry.

For a product that is inexpensive and provides these great benefits I certainly give ThermOil my highest recommendation.

Thank you ThermOil!

Terry,

We have operated houseboats on Lake Powell for many years. Anyone familiar with this area knows how harsh this environment can be and the extremes in temperatures that are possible. Power for all of the equipment and appliances on these houseboats are provided by generator or by large numbers of 6 and 12 volt storage batteries.

Batteries are deeply discharged on a daily basis or may remain unused for long periods of time. We have used Thermoil in our 22 batteries since 2002.We, as well as others at our marina, have been amazed at our batteries’ longevity, low water usage, and lack of battery corrosion and fumes that adding Thermoil has produced. Most of our houseboat dock mates have replaced their battery banks at least once and sometimes twice during the lifetime of our original set.

We are very pleased with the performance of this product. When the opportunity presents itself we introduce Thermoil and recommend it to others wishing to extend the life of their batteries, decrease corrosion and lower water consumption.

I’m an obsessive angler and a fishing guide, on the water from spring through late fall, and that translates into a lot of fishing. Which means a lot of work for my trolling motor batteries. I use Thermoil in those batteries religiously.

I am now winding down my fifth season on the same pair of trolling motor batteries that run my 24V system, and we’re talking about coming off the water and hooking up the charger after every fishing trip.

When my boat shop winterized my motor last November I had them load test the trolling motor batteries to see what percentage of charge they were still accepting. One-hundred-percent. After four years of fishing and recharging? One-hundred-percent. Absolutely amazing for a guy who, in the bad old days, used to have to replace his deep cycle batteries every year.

Five years on the same batteries and who knows, maybe six? I should also mention that I haven’t had to add water to my batteries in over a year. Thermoil gets full credit for keeping me going year after year.

Hello Thermoil,

I have one question for you. How long do these Thermoil 6-volt golf cart batteries last? I have a 16 ft. jon boat with a 50 lb. thrust trolling motor. I fish the Wolf River here in Wisconsin for walleyes every chance I get.

I mainly float and jig all the time which requires running the trolling motor off & on all day long. I used to have to buy a new 12-volt deep cycle battery for my trolling motor every other year.

I spoke with you back in 1995 and you stated I should get two of your Thermoil 6-volt golf cart batteries and hook them in a series to get 12-volts. You stated back then that they would probably last 3 times longer while providing me with twice the reserve capacity.

I had never heard of hooking two 6-volts together and was very skeptical, but decided to give it a try. Wow, were you ever right! I should say some what right. They didn’t last 3 times longer; they are now 12 years old and still going strong – so that is 6 times longer while saving me $$$$$$ hundreds of dollars.

I have more power than ever before and can fish more than twice as long before the trolling motor starts to slow down. I have never had any corrosion and only had to add water several times. I am now making plans to take my boat to Canada for a fall fishing trip. My question is how long do these batteries last? I don’t want to replace them since they are still going strong but I do not want them to die up in the Canadian wilderness either and ruin my fishing trip. If they make it to this spring that will be 13 years. Please advise me what to do.

I have been guiding and fishing tournaments now for the past 10 years. The tournaments that I have fished include the MWC, Cabela’s, and the PWT. When I first talked with Thermoil Inc.® about batteries three years ago, I was very speculative.

Well, I just wanted you to know that everything that they said turned out to be true and then some. I fish for a living so I am basically on the water every day of the year. When I am not guiding, I am fishing tournaments. Most of my fishing involved running my trolling motor for hours on end. I would have to replace batteries every year, sometimes twice a year.

This will be my 3rd year now on the same set of Thermoil Batteries. There is no corrosion and I only had to add water once so far. These batteries are still working flawlessly and keep me going all day. Before I endorse a product I have to use it myself to make sure that it performs as stated. Thermoil does everything that it claims.

I want to thank your company for the sponsorship this year and I am proud to endorse your product Thermoil. I look forward to many more years of working together with your company. I only wish that I had heard of Thermoil years ago.

Now as everybody in Britain is well aware, the weather has not been the best for boating. This has meant that our testing of this product has been a little belated. However not to be put off by a little wind and rain, Sea-Fishing.com braved the worst to review Thermoil Inc’s Thermoil Battery Additive.

Thermoil mainly benefits lead based batteries, but it can be added to any battery, which has caps on it. Thermoil is clever stuff. The oil basically creates a film, which sits on top of the acid/water solution which batteries are made of. This means that the bubbles created when charging a battery break less violently on the surface.

This does two jobs, firstly it reduces the amount of water lost from the battery because it reduces the misting effect and so the amount of water you lose through evaporation. The oil also stops explosions within the battery. The use of the oil means that because bubbles have to force their way through the oil in order to break there are fewer gases present and so the explosion factor is reduced greatly. In addition to reducing the explosion and misting factors the oil also prevents corrosion. It is no good adding the oil to a battery which has corrosion, because once corrosion sets in; it can’t be cured and spreads throughout the battery.

However if the oil is added to a new battery the corrosion is greatly reduced. This means that with less corrosion your battery will become more efficient. Charging and discharging becomes more effective because as it not has the resistance of corrosion to overcome.

The oil can be applied to a multitude of batteries, a list of which is available on the Thermoil Inc website. So is it worth the investment? Yes. An efficient battery is a happy battery and should serve you better and longer than a battery without the Thermoil added. The Thermoil will help reduce any chance of explosion, keeping you safe and also reduce corrosion in the battery keeping it in perfect working order.

This question is for boat owners who fish a lot: How long does your trolling motor’s deep-cycle battery last? Yeah, mine too. Disgusting, isn’t it, considering how much those suckers cost? How would you like to buy your next battery a little refreshment, sort of a shot and a beer to cheer up a hard worker who’s in for a long tough summer?

Over the past four years I’ve become a life-long believer in a little pick-me-up for my batteries that’s very affordable, very effective, and can double or even triple your battery’s average life span.

I fish a lot. Low-balling my estimate, I’d say I’m on the water 120 days a year. Every time I get home from a fishing trip I hook up the charger and recharge the trolling motor battery. Deep-cycle batteries are intended to handle repeated charge and discharge cycles but that’s a lot of charging nonetheless (especially when you consider I come home tired and am not exactly diligent about checking my battery fluid levels each time). A summer has never passed when I haven’t ignored water levels until the plates were eventually exposed. Whatever percentage of plates was exposed, the battery subsequently lost that percentage of recharge ability. There were also a few times over the past 20 years when I was in a situation where I couldn’t recharge after each use, sojourns to the far reaches of northwestern Ontario or extended island camping vacations on the Willow Flowage. For over 20 years the end result of this battery abuse has been the purchase of a new one every spring. That’s both frustrating and expensive.

Then four years ago I happened across a press release about Thermoil batteries, found my interest piqued by what I read, called Terry Fellner, the president of the company, and asked about a zillion questions before I bought one of his batteries. This past November I completed an Unprecedented fourth season with that same battery. The battery I bought from Fellner is a high-quality, heavy-duty marine deep-cycle battery with extra thick plates; one of the batteries Thermoil used to sell before they opted to sell the patented high tech oil itself instead of trying to develop a nationwide network of battery distributors. I’m not sure how many cycles my battery is rated for but it has already been through 300 or more and I fully expect to get at least one more year out of it. If that happens I’ll have used the same trolling motor battery five times longer than any battery I’ve ever used.

Don’t take my word for any of this, be skeptical. Go to the following website: www.thermoilbatteries.com and read anything and everything but especially the Frequently Asked Questions section. For instance, don’t expect to rejuvenate a used battery that already has corroded plates. Realize that you can’t extend a battery’s life indefinitely. Learn why Thermoil now sells the oil instead of batteries, etc. Your new battery will thank you. I strongly urge any boat owner who piles up the frequent-fisherman miles and plans to buy a battery this spring to invest a little pocket change in a bottle of Thermoil. Thermoil currently sells for $12.95 per bottle, which is enough to buy you next trolling motor battery a shot and a beer before it spits on its hands and digs in to work.
